Winners announced for Digital Photographer of the Year 2007
Exclusive event marks the end of Imagine Publishing’s 2007 photographic competition
Launched in July 2007, the inaugural Digital Photographer of the Year Awards has come to a close with the magazine’s first ever bagged supplement and an exclusive winners event, held on the London Eye. Encompassing eight genres of photography, the awards aimed to showcase the high standards achieved by many enthusiasts and semi-professional photographers. Over the six months, the judges received thousands of entries.
“Our first awards competition was hugely exciting and the overall standard was incredibly high. We seemed to tap into a rich vein of talent which was just stunning” said Imagine Publishing’s Creative Director, Mark Kendrick. “From landscapes to portraits and creative free-form, through to black and white, we have all been blown away by the excellent submissions of our readers. Their dedication to their art has meant many headaches for us as a judging panel. But as I hope all can see, well worth it.”
The awards event took place on Friday 4 January, with each of the winners receiving a Samsung camera and certificate. Holly Knowles, Student Photographer of the Year, said of the event: “I had a wonderful time. It was lovely to meet the team. I’m so pleased you chose me for Student of the Year and I love my new Samsung camera.”
