How It Works gets half a million Newsstand downloads in five days

The magazine that feeds minds is an instant worldwide hit on Apple’s global digital magazine store - surpasses publisher's expectations

How It Works also became the highest-grossing iPhone Newsstand app in the US iTunes Store, and reached third highest grossing in the UK. The performance of this digital edition has been phenomenal, beating such established titles as The New York Times, Health & Fitness and Esquire.

How It Works is just one of Imagine’s portfolio of 20 successful technology magazines, and it has since been joined on Apple Newsstand by other key brands, including iCreate, SciFiNow, Web Designer, Apps Magazine, Total 911, 3D Artist, Play, games™ and Retro Gamer. All are sure to be popular with iPhone and iPad owners around the globe.

“I’m delighted with the performance of How It Works on Apple Newsstand,” said Editor in Chief Dave Harfield. “It seems fitting that an innovative and exciting magazine like this one should be received so well via this cutting-edge method of digital delivery. It’s fantastic that over half a million people have been able to discover and enjoy How It Works in this way.”

How It Works Editor, Helen Laidlaw added: “This huge number of downloads demonstrates the universal appeal of How It Works, and it’s great that a service like Newsstand is already delivering hundreds of thousands of new readers worldwide.”
