Linux User & Developer relaunched

Technology magazine publisher reveals new title aimed at the thriving Linux and open source software scene.

30 July saw Imagine Publishing relaunch Linux User & Developer as the latest addition to its successful portfolio of computing and creative magazines. It’s the UK’s only magazine aimed solely at Linux professionals and IT decision makers and will provide an invaluable source of information to help GNU/Linux professionals expand their knowledge base and perform more effectively in the workplace.

Linux User & Developer covers everything that Linux professionals need to increase their abilities including tutorials on the latest open source software, tools and techniques. The magazine also features a regular 12-page section dedicated to developers covering methods of programming, building applications and optimising code. It features a bigger hardware section than any other magazine covering all Linux- compatible hardware from Linux notebooks to server solutions.

Editor in Chief Dave Harfield commented: “The relaunched Linux User & Developer is a worthy addition to our family of successful technology titles. The magazine has a long-held reputation for providing high-end information to the upper tier of the Linux and open source community. Our relaunch retains this core strength while benefiting from Imagine’s ability to bring high-quality magazines to a worldwide audience. This first issue marks a new chapter of success for Linux User & Developer.”

To help build a strong magazine community, the companion website www.linuxuser.co.uk allows readers to access tutorials and features as well as news and opinions from the world of GNU/Linux. There is also a forum for discussion and feedback and a DVD that ships with every issue featuring the latest Linux distros and open source applications, along with all the code needed to complete tutorials and projects.

Issue one is on sale now boasting an exclusive interview with Mark Shuttleworth, Jon “Maddog” Hall writing on open source telephony and mobile Linux, plus a guide to mastering debugging techniques. Visit www.linuxuser.co.uk for more information on the magazine and subscription deals.
